There are various interpretation of “domicile”. Tan Yock Lin (author of Conflict Issues in Family & Succession Law (Butterworths Asia, 1993)) writes that “domicile simply means home”.
The Singapore Court defines “The domicile of a person is determined by the intention of the person’s choice, not of the place where he chooses to live, but the place where he chooses to die. In modern times, it is sufficient to include the place where the person intends to return permanently at the end of his or her sojourn elsewhere in the world.”
A Singapore citizen is presumed to be domiciled in Singapore until the contrary is proven (section 3(5), Women’s Charter)
